Teaching proposal
Helping pupils discover the world.
We offer to visit schools that wish to support us, on the theme of global citizenship education.
We can link our session to several parts of the French national curriculum, in cycles 1, 2 and 3, adapting the content to the pupils’ age. Sessions are prepared with the help of teacher friends and adapted to the wishes of the school’s teaching team.
Session examples
Three stages for the pupils.
- Stage 1
A lesson on the world and its diversity
- Presentation of Vietnam, its geography, climate and landscapes, with photos, maps and videos. We show the country’s riches (Ha Long Bay, the rice terraces) but also the challenges its people face.
- A simple presentation of cultural differences: customs, traditions, food, ways of life (how children go to school, their games…).
- Despite these differences, all children share common ground: the right to learn, to play and to be healthy.
- Stage 2
An introduction to solidarity and mutual aid
- Explaining what a charity and international solidarity are: the idea of giving and its concrete impact. A donation, however small, can make a big difference.
- Raising awareness of equal opportunities and respect for others. Our action shows concretely how anyone can help children who do not have the same opportunities.
- A discussion on the importance of water, access to books and school supplies: resources often taken for granted in France, but not everywhere.
- Stage 3
Presenting concrete actions
- Concrete examples of what we have achieved: building wells, buying supplies. This makes the action tangible for the children.
- We invite the children to think about what they could do to help. Collecting donations then becomes the natural extension of an awareness project.
A second visit
Showing the impact of their gesture.
At the end of the school year, we come back to present the latest action in a video report, followed by a question-and-answer session. The children can see the positive impact they have had.
